I often drove past this diner, and every so often I'd take my daughter there for pancakes at the weekend. I always wanted to photograph it but as a 24/7 old fashioned diner, there were always cars parked at the front obstructing the view. On July 4th, 2015 I was driving past after an Independence Day lunch and the diner was shut for the first time ever to my knowledge, so I grabbed my camera gear from the back of the truck and shot about 20 frames in the next half hour. I was grappling with the sun being in the wrong position, but a couple of exposures worked well and with some careful reouching and editing this was the result.
