When I start an abstract painting, I try not to have any preconceived notion of what it will be. I just let the brush and the colors dictate the direction of the piece. Sometimes, an idea will evolve and I'll run with it. At some point in this painting, it started feeling like flowing plant life on the ocean bottom...like a field of coral with feathery plumes jutting out into the waters. A small fish hiding in this chaos to shelter from everything that wants to eat it for dinner.
This painting also started with a dark ground, which made the light pop even more. I love this one.
