A gentle humorous depiction of some of the faces on Easter island.
It was thought that the original islanders so over-exploited the natural environment that there was not enough wood left to build sea-worthy ships as so much of the wood had been used to transport the stone to make the heads. The islanders fought and became ill.
It seems that this is not the case and instead the peaceful healthy populations were ravaged by disease from visitors and slaving.. The faces continue to look into the island long after the hands that made them left.
This image seeks to evoke a whimsical irony and invites the viewer not to lose sight of reality ...but remember not everything is as we think it is..
On eco-friendly pure birch wooden panel which can be hung on a wall or or just stand on a surface - painted on sides as well as front.
acrylic
