This drawing is of Jimi Hendrix, singer-songwriter, although his mainstream career spanned only four years, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as "arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music".

The charcoal image has been drawn on paper, paper size A3 (11-3/4 x 16-1/2 in, 297 x 420 mm). The drawing has two coats of fixative sprayed over the surface to seal the charcoal.
