Illustration of my poem “Her body”
Baby born how much is she worth?
Will this tiny body bring prosperity?
To a man with position
We are not a charity
Taught to obey made to serve
Purged of individuality
Female genital mutilation
The normality of barbarity
Her own mother was her nurse
Father, brother, complicity
It’s the same for everyone in this nation
Rage of the silent majority
Control your pleasure control your birth
From grace to depravity
This body is not yours it’s God’s creation
You’ll never have another man but me
I don’t want to it hurts
House, wife, property
Until we’re side by side in the earth
Even in death you will not be free
