A small naive study of a Scottish traditional style thatched house or bothy under a dramatic dark colourfull sky with a washing line and a garden of flowers.
Although this a fantasy fictional image it is loosely based on the small whitewashed stone croft house of the west coast Scottish highlands and Hebridean islands, often described as black houses, which are traditional thatched in reeds or Marram grass, and stones attached to ropes or nets to keep the thatch down, with rounded cornered walls and small windows, many of which lie empty and abandoned.
Painted with a dramatic dark sky using a unique textural technique that allows the underlying colours of gold and red to show through the texture.

Painted using quality artists acrylics on a small square format 8" x 8" (20 x 20cm) canvas, with a gloss varnish finish and white wooden frame with cord ready to hang.
