Artwork description:

The etching ‘Broken Tracks’ is inspired by the beaches at Dungerness, on the south coast of England, UK.
This landscape appears bare, isolated and derelict. The abundant metal structures, boots and fishing equipment sit on the land like historic relicts.
Being there can feel like a visit to an Open Air museum.
My etching ‘Broken Tracks’ expresses the sense of space and emptiness which can be calming and relaxing.
With my images I aim to create a narrative in a subtle way, to ‘show’ rather than ‘tell’ a story. I hope the viewer is inspired to find their own personal narrative in my images.
‘Broken Tracks’ is printed by me from one steel plate in small editions in different colours (this is the charcoal composition) on acid free printmaking paper. Each print is hand made and has small variations through the inking. The image size is 60x40cm with a paper margin of 7cm all around.

Materials used:

Paper, inks, steel etching plate
