Meet Hector — a hound painted in profile, calm and noble. I named him after the hero of The Iliad, a figure of strength, loyalty, and quiet dignity.

This work is part of an ongoing series of portraits. It began with Artemis and Apollo — twin-like dogs who came to life on the canvas as if from memory. Then came Nike, Hercules… and now, Hector.

I’ve loved Greek myths since childhood. My father used to read them to me at night when we lived in the forest — magical tales of gods, fate, and heroes. When I began painting this series, it felt as though the stories emerged on their own, shaped by memory and emotion.

These aren’t just portraits of dogs. They’re stories about love, mythology, and the echoes of the past — personal myths brought to life in paint.

The painting comes in a vintage frame that adds to its timeless character.
