A semi abstract landscape in the colours of the sea and land from the Isle of Skye. It is possible for a place to show its true character in a split second. No imagination involved, just capturing an instant in time that is never repeated and is real. On this day of whipped cream clouds and subtle warm light on autumnal bracken, with the wind in your hair and sun on your face, it could not have been more beautiful.
Taken from a part of our small island (Isle of Skye) that is very remote, you reach it after driving down bumpy one track roads and past some small croft houses until even those become few and far between.
From here you can see the Outer Hebridean islands of Harris and Lewis, as well of the smaller islands of Barra and Uist. Beyond that is open sea all the way to Iceland.
Printed at 20 x 30 inches plus a 2 inches white border around the image with the title, signature and edition number in the border. If you prefer to frame without a border just let me know and I can sign and number on the image and add the title on the back of the print.
I photograph and print every image, I do not outsource any part of my workflow. Each canvas has been painstakingly crafted to ensure the true colours, resolution and texture are exactly as they should be.
About My Work
I believe in giving my clients beautiful artwork on luxury papers that hold their colours for a lifetime. For this piece I will print on Canson Aquarelle Paper which has a beautiful texture like watercolour paper. I do all my own printing, having spent years learning this skill I prefer to maintain control of the colour representation at all stages to ensure you get a truly handmade image.
About My Materials
People often say that my images look like paintings because of the richness of the colours, the depth of the black and the texture of the materials I use. Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper for over 450 years in France. Founded in 1557 and printers to Louis XVI, their paper was used by Voltaire and Napoleon and the Montgolfier brothers used Canson paper to make the first hot air balloon. Canson paper was used by Picasso, Ingres, Chagal, Miro and many other artists. They have been making paper and canvas for photography since this art began over 150 years ago. Canson are Eco Friendly - they purchase paper pulp only from forests managed in a sustainable way which also makes them pretty special.
