2019, "Ajax" - stone sculpture

This original large solid andesite sculpture is handcrafted by the Bulgarian national famous contemporary sculptor, deeply inspired by naturalism, brutalism and dadaism. It has authentic natural charm, mixed with the unique artistic signature and skills. Andesite is an extrusive igneous, volcanic rock, of intermediate composition, with aphanitic to porphyritic texture. The earth layers had fallen into the mantle, had melted and then pushed back on the surface, where they have cooled down quickly. This brutal process describes perfectly the andesite material. It is also brutally used by human as gravel for highways. The rocks are blasted, crushed and crumbled into small pieces. The artist's concept follows this brutal material characteristics and common attitude. This exquisite art object brings its beautiful artist's attention to high fashion detail, precision and top quality.
