Original artwork description:

Hazy Studland bay, Dorset
I was there, in the moment,
Feeling the warmth,
Seeing the beautiful colours,
Nestled in the dunes,
Wishing it to last,

Words and memories of this special beach by the sea on the amazing Dorset coast.
I have so many romantic and fun times at Studland over the years. This scene was inspired at sunset to dusk looking from the sand dunes.
Original expressive watercolour on extra rough textured watercolour paper 425gsm 200lb bockingford.
I had to wet the paper all over and used an Gamboge yellow for the first backwash then applied more in graduated washes. When I painted the horizon of the sea, I used a filbert brush to control the pigments feathering up plus I tipped the paper downwards and across to make the sea and sky soft - blurred. You can only get this effect with the paper being wet. I created the foreground while the paper was still wet and used a bushy hogs hair brush, pressing and dabbing the paint on to make markings of the gorse -sea grasses.

Materials used:

Extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425gsm 200lb, Windsor and Newton watercolours, filbert brush, bushy hogs hair brush, sable hair brush,
