This is an original oil painting done in late spring off Highway 82 at sunrise. Two immature red tail hawks came and stayed in the area while I was painting. I came to paint the cherry trees in bloom, but the apple trees in the foreground had not started yet. I liked the contrast of the stark apple trees with the lush cherry blossoms in the background. The original aboriginal people are the Mogollon, who left behind amazing pottery depicting all the animals and insects of this lovely valley. I stretched and painted this on a box wrap frame so it does not need a traditional frame. It will protrude from the wall 1.5 inches. Because the painting continues on the sides, it has a nice flow to it as you walk around it. (Well, to me it does, I'll let you be the judge! I find as I get older, I like things cleaner lined, but there are some gaudy frames out there that are hard to resist....)
