Encaustic on panel, this painting “Hatch” is part of my Metamorphosis series, which traces the lifecycle of a butterfly. The raw wood in the background of the painting is covered with a thin layer of clear wax, and the colored areas are highly textured and pigmented encaustic wax (beeswax and resin).
