Artwork description:

The glowing colours of the fields during the harvest months on Orkney. The Hills of North Hoy in the background and the sunshine shooting through the clouds. I love this image, the dual skyline and the slight tilt to the landscape, the fields in the distance above and then below with the light connecting everything. Inspired by the work of the artist Sylvia Wishart, an Orkney artist who developed fabulous intricate collage images using both the reflections on her window as well as the view through the glass. To take this image I travelled to the location near her studio so that I could see the view as she saw it. While my effort is somewhat different from hers, I think it captures the essence of harvest and the incredible landscape of Orkney.

This is an image made in one shot in the camera, very little post production.

Printed with a 2 inches white border around the image with the title, edition number and my signature under the image.

Printed on Canson Arches Aquarelle, one of the most beautiful papers I have ever worked with! Canson Arches Aquarelle has history of this paper goes back centuries. It has a soft structure like a watercolour paper that enhances the image creating a softness and warmth like a watercolour painting.

About My Materials
People often say that my images look like paintings because of the richness of the colours, the depth of the black and the texture of the materials I use. Arches-Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper for over 450 years in France. Founded in 1557 and printers to Louis XVI, their paper was used by Voltaire and Napoleon and the Montgolfier brothers used Canson paper to make the first hot air balloon.

Arches paper was used by Picasso, Ingres, Chagal, Miro and many other artists. They have been making paper and canvas for photography since this art began over 150 years ago. Canson are Eco Friendly - they purchase paper pulp for their materials only from forests managed in a sustainable way which also makes them pretty special.
