Original artwork description:

This is the first figure I have painted since revisiting my approach to mixing and using colour earlier this year. Painted directly from life, and then using reference photos, I made a deliberate effort to keep the colours muted and harmonious – hence the title – and I think I have done ok. I also wanted to bring in a level of painterly and forthright abstraction whilst still maintaining the beauty of the form, and again, I think I have managed. It was not my original intention to leave it at this stage, but the more I looked at it, the more obvious it was that there was nothing more to say with this one.
