'Happy Hour' is an etching from a series 'The View: city stories. The place where I live'. I love city site-seeing, hiking and the outdoor activities. Every time I like to go and explore new places that I have never been before, except the view which is depicted in my artwork ‘Happy Hour’. This view is one of my favourites. This simple but majestic scenery is located in Howth peninsula which is 15 km northeast of Dublin City. Every year I visit and enjoy a view of Ireland's Eye island from this particular point. It became some kind of ritual for me. Looking at Ireland's Eye island makes me dream about distant shores and places that I would like to visit one day, and I believe that this place have a magic power. Almost everything that I wished at this place became truth.
A balloon represents that significant moment or some kind of happiness, that’s why I named this etching ‘Happy Hour’. Why the balloon is red – actually there is no particular meaning but only highlight of that possible miracle when dreams become truth or, maybe, just a sense of happiness and kindness.
My intention was to share happiness and joy of ordinary – extraordinary things in our lives. Because “there is always something admirable in everything... We only need that perspective...[Maitree Tailor]
