Though known to most Dubs as the Ha'penny Bridge because of the old price of the bridge's toll, that's not its official title.
In its 200-year history, the bridge has had a number of names. The bridge was originally called Wellington Bridge in honour of the Duke of Wellington, Aurthur Wellesley who was born in Dublin.
The bridge was also known as the Penny Ha'penny Bridge when the toll prices were increased to a penny and a half in the early 1900's.
After Ireland gained independence, the name was changed to Liffey Bridge in 1922 - and that's actually still its official name.
