This linocut was inspired by an old Morris Minor that belongs to my next door neighbour and is often parked outside in my street. I make all of my prints by hand. First I design in my sketchbook or on my iPad, then I transfer the image onto a piece of Lino and I carve out the design. I then print onto handmade paper using my etching press. I used three colours, yellow, red and blue with a transparent mixing ink to achieve a colour mixing effect. The colours vary depending on the order that I print the three plates. In this print the first plate which includes the ground was yellow, the second was red and the last plate which includes the shape of the shadow under the car was blue. The almost black body of the car is achieved by the combination of the inks overlaying each other. The prints are deliberately off registered by the tiniest amount to give the image a dynamic feel. This means that each print varies slightly and so is unique. The image size is 10 X 15 cm but there is a border of 2-3 cm around the edge to allow for framing. The paper is handmade, bought from a local supplier. This is one of a limited run of 25. It represents an affordable way to collect handmade art.
I always package my prints in a reinforced, waterproof envelope.
I use Royal Mail to send artwork abroad and it is first class and tracked postage. Small items are sent first class with no tracking within the UK. If I find I have overcharged for postage and packaging, I refund the difference.
