I visited these ruins in Southern India in the late 1980’s. At that time this was an amazing location to visit and stay some time to absorb the mood of the place. I did a number of sketches and paintings while I was there.
An earlier rough version of this scene done on location sold a few years ago. This softer, larger version is based on that first painting.
The close up pictures are to get a feel for the brush strokes and details in the painting. Then there’s me with the painting for perspective.
