Hafren was a two stage process. I love how the dual layer and technique work to create an interesting ‘2 in 1’ painting. First I took different shades of grey to create the background. A fairly neutral base to encourage the top layer to ‘pop’. Secondly I took two shades of red, two shades of purple and some white to create the spin layer over the top. A deviation from my usual colour palette, but I love how the colours work together creating a more sophisticated piece.
I used an circular canvas, for this piece - I enjoy creating work on canvases of different sizes and shapes and feel that spin paintings work best with circular canvases. This piece is unique and eye-catching.
As with each of my pieces, Hafren is named after one of my rainbow sheep (marrying my two passions).
