Saw this gorgeous gum tree during the last plein air outing with the group and I decide to come back to paint it again. Such a wonderful autumn day with no wind no cloud. There was nobody else in the woods except one or two dog walkers passing by. The birds circled around me, curious at what I was doing. Four rainbow lorikeets sat on the branches above and tried to draw my attention to them by dropping some nuts around me. A cheeky magpie walked around hoping for some food. A big brush turkey chased him away and rushed over every time I reached out to my bag. And the stately kookaburra sat there watched and laughed 😂 All the wonderful distractions while I tried to capture the lovely morning light on this magnificent gum tree and the golden heath-leaved banksia nestled around the smooth white trunk.
