Gum bichromate is a 19th century photographic printing process based on the light sensitivity of dichromates. It allows pictorial images to be obtained from photographic negatives. Gum printing is traditionally a multi-layered printing process, but satisfactory results can be obtained with a single pass. Any colour can be used for rubber printing, so it is also possible to produce natural colour photographs using this layered technique.
Combination of cyanotype and bichromate gum in the background.
Image format: 40x 60 cm on 250 gsm Fabriano watercolour paper.
