Original artwork description:

Gulf Coast I has a bit of a funny story behind it. I was having a particularly rough day. You know, we all have them. And I needed to paint. So, I grabbed a canvas with an unfinished painting on it and started scrubbing on paint, spraying it off, scratching with my fingernails, basically making a giant scene, and never satisfied. It was one of those days. I worked and worked and started noticing this familiar color scheme that I couldn't place. Frustrated, I sat down, flipping through photos for inspiration. Nothing, nothing... I found myself looking at photos from a trip my family had taken to Perdido Key, Florida, (US) and there, a photo I'd taken of my husband and our daughter taking her first dip in the Gulf of Mexico. There. The familiar color scheme. The greens and blues of the gulf. It felt right. I added the waves, stroke by stroke until a semi-abstract water piece emerged. I to this day believe it was because I need a vacation! (Still do... ha. No rest for the weary!)
