This original gabbro sculpture on stainless steel stand is one of the latest artworks of the contemporary Bulgarian professional sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by postmodernism, organic abstraction and conceptualism. Gabbro is a mafic intrusive igneous rock formed from the slow cooling of magma into a holocrystalline mass deep beneath the Earth's surface. Much of the Earth's oceanic crust is made of gabbro. Because of its large crystalline structure it can be polished and reflect with light. The artist's concept to combine the gabbro sculptural form with many optical glass pieces is to explore both its exterior and interior light reflecting qualities.
