Original artwork description:

This painting was done en plein air—working outdoors directly from life. I was drawn to the way the light and shadow played across the structure. It's one of the many small cottages at Crystal Cove, California, specifically the last one along the path heading south toward Laguna. I painted it in the late afternoon, though not quite late enough for the long shadows to appear. I chose this particular building because I found a good spot that gave me a clear corner view.
