Along the way we come to a "passage" that must be crossed in order to continue. The view of what lies ahead is obscured by the leaves, and the bushes wrap our bodies tightly around them. Some leaves caress us, but there are also branches that scratch us.
Dew bathes our bodies. We cannot see where our feet are going, but experience and intuition will guide us with optimism to discover what lies beyond the green passage.
This painting is one of a series of 'passages' encountered along the paths, which I imagine as events and situations from which one cannot escape.
The forest is rendered with quick, colour-poor brushstrokes brushstrokes, the canvas deliberately left white at points of light. Painting is reduced to a minimum, everything is rendered with restrained gestures.
The painting was done in the studio in August 2023. It is a reworking of several studies done en plein air.
The work is painted in oil on canvas panel.
The signature is in the lower right corner.
The painting is protected by a layer of satin acrylic varnish.
The work comes with a thin wooden frame to protect the edges. It is ready to hang.
The work is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
“Green passage” is a literal translation of the original Italian title "Passaggio verde”.
