This painting depicts the Meadow Court in Chorlton. These trees inspire me at any time of the year: in winter, the gold of the setting sun breaks through them; in summer, the foliage, as in a kaleidoscope, folds into bizarre patterns from which it is difficult to look away. When I was writing this motif, Klimt's landscapes came to my mind, and I aspired to convey the rhythm of trees and mosaics of foliage on the canvas.
