The painting invites immersion in nature’s elegance bathing in green summer colours. The emphasis lies in the tensions between different forms and textures in the landscape, as well as the in the relationship between the foreground and the background, which are realised not only by different colours, but also by the range and quality of brushstrokes. For a painter these phenomena - forms and textures - can only become visible by means of close observation, and looking ‘beyond’ the elements in nature, a process embodied in the paintings in which every brushstroke and every colour area forms a meaningful entity in the emerging whole.
