Original Edition
This is 'the great ridge' at sunrise, looking towards 'loose hill' in the Derbyshire Peak District National Park.
Another very early start but essential if you want to capture the sunrise! On top of the great ridge at the head of Hope Valley I waited next to the main path for the sun to crest the horizon. I had visited here just the day before but the sky was too cloudy. This morning however there was just enough gap for the sun to glimpse through between the horizon and clouds which lasted for less than just five minutes. Afterwards the light was gone and a dull mist was all that remained.
Perseverance and timing is the key to capturing these shots. I used a really small aperture (f/22) to create the star like flare around the sun's orbit. A great effect but I did have to edit out quite a bit of the flare as left a line of bright green and red blobs heading into the foreground.
This is the original (A3) edition.
