Artwork description:

I take early morning walks along Alameda Creek in Fremont California, and an adjacent regional park, Quarry Lakes almost every day. I observe a lot of waterfowl and other wildlife in the early morning hours when they are most active. Egrets, Canada geese, ducks, herons, grebes, buffleheads, and other birds are part of the community. I love watching their habits, and take lots of pictures on my iPhone during my walks.

This is one of several different linocut prints in my Waterfowl series, including Canada geese, a snowy egret, a great blue heron, pelicans and ducks (there are more to come!). This is a limited edition print, the image is carved onto a linoleum block, then hand printed with black ink on archival Hosho, a handmade Japanese paper, on my etching press. The image is square, 6 inches by 6 inches. The outer dimensions of the paper are 11 x 14 inches. Each print is signed by the artist, numbered and is an original piece of art. I've also printed some of the edition on Rives BFK Fawn paper.

Each one is unique; the printing varies slightly, which is inherent in hand pulled linocuts.

Materials used:

archival Hosho paper, ink
