Artwork description:

The awnings, balconies and roofs of a remote hillside village in Sicily inspired this design. However, when I thought it was all ready for cutting the screen print stencils, I realised the design had turned out too architectural and lifeless.

Enter the seagulls. Swooping across the canvas, they break up the linear shapes and introduce movement and a sense of foreground. Come to think of it, they 'photo-bombed' the design. A stroke of genius (or divine intervention) if I say so myself!

To our amusement, our tutor at the Red Hot Press in Southampton accused me and a colleague of 'pushing the boundaries of the technique' with our intricate stencils, but of course she was right. There are a few wobbles where the stencil took strain, areas of patchy transfer and misalignments, but it all adds to an attractive effect. I'm proud of this print (the only one on this natural-coloured paper) and I hope you like it too.

It is sold unframed, for ease and economy of shipping. However, I have included some app-generated images showing the artwork framed, to help you visualise what it might look like.

Please note that I am willing to ship to most countries, so if the shipping profile for this artwork does not include where you are, please feel free to message me to make a request.
