Artwork description:

Grasslands National Park, in southern Saskatchewan, is pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

It’s a place you probably won't find unless you specifically look for it. Here, in an expanse of mixed-grass prairie and glacier-carved coulees and buttes, herds of buffalo still roam as they’ve done for at least a couple centuries. At the park office, they actually warn you about the buffalo. But never mind the buffalo.

The sky is the big player here. At Grasslands, in the largest dark sky preserve in Canada, the Milky Way is a brilliant highway across the night. And, before darkness sets in, the sunsets turn the sky into a palette of radiant tints of crimson and the grasslands reflect the glow and shimmer.

This print is part of the Heron Road series - inspired by a year-long road trip along the back roads of North America.
