'Grape vine'
Slate, 2016

I came across this beautiful piece of purple slate and realised I would have to save it for something special. When the grapes started to appear on the vine in my garden, I found my subject, the perfect colour for the slate and with great forms and shapes for relief carving. Inspiration for this piece also comes from Dutch still life painting.
