In the spirit of Hanami—the Japanese tradition of enjoying the transient beauty of the blooming Sakura tree, 'Grand Old Tree' captures nature in its fleeting moments— serene, tranquil and majestic.

'Grand Old Tree' stands as a statement piece and a defining work for Océane. It is unusually large for a lithograph, and therefore brings an atmosphere to the space where it is displayed. The cherry blossom, captured on canvas is no longer fleeting, but able to be enjoyed for generations.

This work was hand-printed using a pre-war lithographic printing press and natural oil-based inks on archival paper. The translucent quality of the leaves the subtle gradient hues, and the size of the piece make it one of the most technically challenging works of the 'Wanderer in the landscape' collection.
