original large watercolour painting inspired by Venice, Italy (this is 100% Original and NOT a print copy)
The Grand Canal (Italian: Canal Grande, Venetian: Canal Grando) is a channel in Venice, Italy. It forms one of the major water-traffic corridors in the city.
One end of the canal leads into the lagoon near the Santa Lucia railway station and the other end leads into the basin at San Marco; in between, it makes a large reverse-S shape through the central districts (sestieri) of Venice.
The banks of the Grand Canal are lined with more than 170 buildings, most of which date from the 13th to the 18th century, and demonstrate the welfare and art created by the Republic of Venice. The noble Venetian families faced huge expenses to show off their richness in suitable palazzos; this contest reveals the citizens’ pride and the deep bond with the lagoon. Amongst the many are the Palazzi Barbaro, Ca' Rezzonico, Ca' d'Oro, Palazzo Dario, Ca' Foscari, Palazzo Barbarigo and to Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, housing the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The churches along the canal include the basilica of Santa Maria della Salute.
Santa María della Salute is one of the most important religious buildings in Venice. Its striking dome is depicted in most of the city’s postcards. Salute, as it is commonly known, was founded in 1631. The basilica was built to commemorate the end of a terrible outbreak of the plague that began in 1630, and killed a large portion of the Veneto population. It was dedicated to Our Lady of Health (Salute in Italian). The architect, Baldassare Longhena, was commissioned to design the church and had also been responsible for the construction of the Ca’ Rezzonico. Santa Maria della Salute took 56 years to build and was completed in 1687.

All my artworks are photographed in natural light. I am striving to represent the colours and quality as best as I can. Nevertheless, screens can display colours differently and the actual piece may look slightly different from what you see on your screen.
This artwork is Unframed - I don't frame my art, this is because the frame and the glass especially would significantly increase the risk of brakeage and shipping costs. Also this way you can choose an exact colour and size of the frame to suit your home interior.
Framing advise: **This is an original watercolour painting. To preserve its original quality, it should be framed behind a glass and kept away from direct sunlight. The glass will protect the painting from dust and moisture damage - please note it should never touch the artwork. Consider archival framing, where all of the materials touching the artwork such as mat or the backing board are acid free and 100% archival - It assures the looks, life and quality of your art for decades to come**
