This watercolour & mixed media painting is of the abandoned Victorian Grain Tower in Kent, which was constructed off shore on a mud-spit in the River Medway, and is only accessible by foot along a muddy brick causeway at low tide.
Grain Tower Battery was constructed between 1879 and 1855. It's situation offshore is unique for these type of buildings, apparently.
I haven’t had a chance to get close-up yet (must check tide times before I go again)
I like the way it appears to float across the water at high tide.
I’ve always loved looking at and sometimes exploring derelict & abandoned buildings and have been making a series of paintings of disused buildings, often sitting on the horizon, some of which are also featured on my Artfinder shop.
This painting is sold mounted and professionally framed under glass and is ready to hang.
