The old days of tranquil boating in gondolas along a river among classic, centuries-old Venetian architecture served as my inspiration for this original painting. Among all Italian cities Venice has had a special place in my heart, as well as hearts of numerous other travelers, ever since I visited it for the first time. Its waters, its embankments, its antiquity captivate me, and some of my best impressionistic artworks are dedicated to this place of romanticism and marvel.

My other oil paintings of Venice have been sold out years ago, and after a while, I finally felt inspired to create another reminiscence of this beautiful city, so that more people would be able to bathe in its glorious cityscape. This Venice, however, is not a tourist hub we see today, but rather a spot of majestic old. It invokes the spirit of positive contemplation and dignified nobility, bringing forth the best in people beholding it.

Texture inherent to pieces done with oil paints, which is extensively used as part of my art style, truly makes the blue-and gray river in this painting flow, the juicy green leaves rustle in the wind, the white-and-reddish clouds in the sky move, and the ancient city with all its houses and embankments live its own, unique life. It is a mirror on the wall, on the other side of which is the spectator in a beautiful, calm place carefully created for them in the union of a true artist’s mind, his life’s experiences and oil paints.
