Goldfish and Lotus Flower
A goldfish 金魚 (kingyo) is a symbol of good fortune, wealth and prosperity in China and Japan.
Lotus flowers (lian) and goldfish (yu) are similarly pronounced as a Chinese old proverb “nian nian you yu”, meaning that people can have more than need every year. Two goldfish and lotus flower in artwork represent wife and husband’s harmonious relationship as a blessing for the whole family and a happy life.
This painting was hand-painted, using professional Winsor&Newton watercolors and 140lb (300g/m2) cotton watercolor paper.
