A tribute to Peau d'âne. A poetic and enchanting portrait.

This work was created for a group exhibition on the theme of First Glances, or how a childhood memory can be the foundation for the rest of our lives.

Jacques Demy's film Peau d'âne was an obvious choice for me, as it was one of my first visual shocks, and its aesthetic and atmospheric qualities had a major influence on my work for a very long time, without me even being aware of it.

For this tribute, I chose the sun-colored dress with a touch of childhood naiveté, but also a slightly mysterious fairytale spirit.

The ring that Peau d'âne slips into the love cake is represented here at the end of a chain, taking on a body in our reality, like a bridge between the imaginary world and ourselves.

Acrylic, ink, gold leaf and gold powders on strong cardboard, framed in an antique wooden mirror with gold patina.
