This original hand carved paulownia wood wall sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the skillful Bulgarian contemporary sculptor Nikolay Martinov, deeply inspired by abstract geometry, contemporary cubism, minimalism and pop art. His concept is to create one layered abstract skyscape and with the help of a singular carved fractal line to make a three dimensional algorithmic color accent. It is one extraordinary woodcarving masterpiece and exquisite home wall décor.
Nikolay Martinov’s work encompasses many contemporary art styles with the act of minimal drawing being key to his exploration of form and sculptural composition. Mining a space between figuration and abstraction, the artist consistently returns to nature as a point of departure, exploring algorithmic forms and urban shapes as a metaphor for transformation.
