In the winter garden many of the remaining dried flower heads of small shrubs look golden against their straight brown stems. Looking past them to the greenhouse, I loved their architectural shapes and stiff formality against the soft snowy grass and pale ethereal quality of the glass. I used a lot of gold paint first and built on top of that, so you can still see this glimmer underneath the foliage in the foreground. I have tried to capture that in the photos.
The painting is on a cradled wood panel framed in a white painted contemporary style wood frame.
