Original artwork description:

I am facinated by patterns and shapes in nature and love the movement and forms of fish swimming in shoals. As with a lot of my relief pieces I like to have one form (fish) in a different colour, and this is no exception:)

First I created two watercolour paintings of different patterns and shapes, one in blues, greens and aqua, and the other in oranges.

The paintings were then hand cut into four different size fish shapes and I painted stripes across each fish in metallic watercolours.

Each fish was then shaped and rounded, and mounted on a small foam board plinth to enhance the three dimensional effect, which helps to cast interesting shadows depending on where the light is coming from.

I take a long time positioning my forms until I'm really happy with the whole, and then they are fixed to the backing card ready for framing.

The whole piece is framed in a glazed (perspex) wooden deep box frame.

Bespoke colour combinations and sizes available so please message me if you have any questions :)

Materials used:

Watercolour on card, foam board, and a wooden deep box frame glazed with perspex
