Glimpse of April is a semi abstract oil painting inspired by spring blossom and deer. The inspiration behind it was simply to try and capture that brief moment in April in England when the pink blossom trees bloom. I had been walking around the Knole Park area of Sevenoaks in Kent where a large herd of fallow deer live in the grounds of a stately home. One young deer stood under a blossom tree and flashed her white bottom at me before disappearing into the woods. I liked the fairy tale quality of it and although the painting is a little experimental it does give me a glimpse of that moment – hence the title. It is 30x30x1.5 inches on deep edge canvas (so frame not needed), edges white.
