Glenkerry House

As a founding artist of the renowned Bromley by Bow Centre, arriving in the community in 1986, later as Creative Director, I came to know and work alongside many local people and professionals in the community, developing regeneration projects on a very practical level, across east London.
Our approach, developed organically, is to integrate art with health, training, education and enterprise. We have a 35 year track record of enabling community life to flourish and become mainstream, moving out of the challenges of deprivation, long associated with these local neighbourhoods. I know many families, and their stories, and retell them through the lens of memory in my painting.
This painting is based on a drawing of Glenkerry House in Poplar.
