In this piece, I aimed to capture the golden highlights of the Welsh Gorse, on the land below an early winter sky.
As the November sun rises from behind the snow capped Welsh mountains, the deep autumnal palette pours gradually across the glen.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the sky - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
I study the skies over the Cheshire hills, close to my home and also the coastal skies over Anglesey, North Wales,
The layers of the painting are developed by forming texture through layering and blending the paint, building depth and highlights.
