Original artwork description:

The Bird Island Trail is a scenic walking path along the coves and rocky islands of Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. It is the ideal trail to see marine wildlife and access charming sandy beaches. From the Pelican Point, you can get a closer look at Bird Island, which becomes a large sea bird colony in spring and summer.

In this painting, I wanted to show how intense and blinding the light of the late afternoon sun reflecting in the ocean becomes. The horizon line, where the sea meets the sky, blends and almost completely disappears.

Materials:
Oil on oil-primed Claessens Belgian linen, mounted on the archival museum quality Gatorfoam panel. Painting surface is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish. Unframed, requires a frame to hang.
