I was fascinated by the late day sunlight and how it reacted so differently to the various surfaces in the room: on the glass bottles and pottery, on the varnished surface of the shelf, on the plaster walls and doorway. I also liked the juxtaposition of the sharp angle and focus of the shelf, against the near abstraction of the background.
