GLADIATOR'S ELYSIAN FIELDS is a photograph from my collection taken in Tuscany in the Val d’Orcia region.

In this shot you can see the landscape that forms the backdrop to the final scene of the film The Gladiator, with rolling hills and wheat fields as far as the eye can see.
These are the 'Elysian Fields' traversed by Maximus Decimus Meridius...

The Val d'Orcia is a wide countryside in southern Tuscany, the region where I live.

Its green hills are characterized by a dense vegetation, dotted with vineyards, olive groves, cypresses, beech and chestnut groves, a backdrop of marvelous castles, medieval villages and rural houses.

Since 2004 the Val d'Orcia is in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
