Another dusk painting of the seafront where I live in Hove, UK. I wanted an intense blue in the sky which was achieved with many transparent glazes of Ultramarine and later, purple. I chose a very low viewpoint to accentuate the shape of the shelter, these days often populated by homeless people although I recently discovered that King Edward the Seventh often came here with various lady friends on trysts away from the gaze of the Royal court (he stayed in a house on the seafront very nearby).
oil on mdf board, gessoed on both sides.
