Oil on linen 40x60x2cm ( 15.7x23.6x0.8in) 2020, ready to hang.
“Giulio sleeps” is the first painting that I created after the birth of my first son, Giulio. I took the picture which I used as sample for painting the artwork at home, while he was sleeping in his pram. The artwork highlights some of my favourite painting techniques: drapery and skin. It is painted on a deep indigo blue background which slightly gets lighter on the upper part of the work (not visible in the pictures). The detail is realistic and the tri-dimensionality easily perceivable.
